Update from Haiti

A message from Dr. David Cutler about the medical mission work he and other dedicated volunteers have been doing in Haiti with the support of the Dr. Henri Gerard Desgranges Foundation.

In January 2010, a massive earthquake struck Haiti, killing 250,000 people and destroying the homes of another 1.5 million. In March of that year, I arrived in Haiti with a group of dedicated volunteers for the first of many missions to help rebuild the small city of Petit Goave, which was devastated by the earthquake. We partnered with the Dr. Henri Gerard Desgranges (HGD) Foundation to provide ongoing patient care and humanitarian relief through yearly missions to Haiti.

Our latest project is installing solar powered laptop computers, with the goal of eventually establishing a sustainable telemedicine program.

Meanwhile, back in the U.S., the Saint John’s Health Center Foundation (a 501(c)3 charitable organization) has agreed to act as fiscal partner for the HGD Foundation in order to assist with fundraising for our ongoing humanitarian work in Haiti. Anyone interested in contributing to this effort as part of the Saint John’s Global Health Program can contact:

Our next mission to Haiti is being planned for August 11-18, 2018. Join us in June for a fundraiser to support our efforts on behalf of the HGD Foundation, its clinic and school in Petit Goave. Thank you!
